Stampin’ Up! Haitian Disaster Relief

Haitian Disaster Relief

On January 12, 2010 a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti, leaving in its wake devastation so overwhelming that the Haitian people and their leaders can only look for help from the outside to cope. As a Stampin′ Up! customer, you too can help make a difference in the lives of those who continue to suffer from the effects of this earthquake by purchasing the I {Heart} Hearts stamp set.

From now until February 28, 2010, $2 from every I {Heart} Hearts stamp set a demonstrator sells will be donated to the American Red Cross’ Haiti Relief and Development Fund. The Red Cross is already well-established in Haiti, and this money will be used to provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need.

Product Name  Item #  Price
I {Heart} Hearts – clear-mount  (block D recommended)  118571  $18.95
I {Heart} Hearts – wood-mount  117010  $26.95

See the flyer here:

In the past, when terrorists attacked the Twin Towers, when a tsunami struck Indonesia, when a hurricane destroyed New Orleans, and when wildfires ravaged Australia, Stampin′ Up! demonstrators have stepped forward and showed their commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. This time is no different.

Stampin′ Up! demonstrators share what they love. That’s how you make a difference. Please do everything you can to lend a hand to the people of Haiti.

Card Samples:

I haven't made any samples as yet but here are what some other demonstrators have done with this adorable stamp set.  They are so talented and I love their style! I got these images from our new and wonderful Demonstrator only Stamper's Connection social site:

Christmas Gifts Project #1

'Mawnin'! as they say where I come from in Belize!

Today I will be sharing with you one of the projects we did Friday night. It was so much fun. We did a Pajama Party theme and I baked cookies (sugar and turtle-two of my favourites) and just enjoyed each other's companiy.

Here is a photo of my friend with her cute slippers she wore and they even matched her jammies! How cute was that!

Yep! She is camera shy. That is the only way I could get her to agree to let me take her pic.

Cute Slippers

So, as promised, here is the first project we did. We actually made 6 gift items and I will be sharing each of them with you in the days to come, so come back and visit me again!

Christmas Gifts Class Project #1: Hershey's Nugget Tin

Isn't this tin cute? I wanted to do something elegant but still a bit cutesy at the same time. I really like how it turned out. This would make a great co-worker, friend, teacher's gift or for an extra gift just to have for an emergency situation. Ever had one of those???

I was going to have it be multi-coloured you know the normal red and green, but as I started to work on it, the monochromatic look worked better for me. A little note: I didn't like how the nuggets would move around in the tin as the 12 nuggets were not an exact fit (and yes that drove me batty) so I created a cradle inside the tin to hold the nuggets in place. I guess you could also put a bit of glue to hold them in place.

What I did was took two Starbucks stir sticks and cut them down to fit the width of the inside of the tin and then I wrapped both ends of the cardstock liner (that I had cut about an 1 1/4" longer than the depth of the inside of the tin) over the sticks, glued them in place and then placed it as a liner in the bottom of the tin. I am sure there probably was something easier to do but if you know me, sometimes I can really make things more complicated than they need to be when I am in a bind. Ha!

As you can see, all I did was wrap some DSP patterned paper to fit around the lid and bottom of the tin. I also made a "belly band" to fit around the tin and added some pretty ribbon and cord and a cute tag! The stamp set that I used for the tag is called Christmas Punch and it is a Level 2 Hostess Set on page 14 of the 2009-10 Idea Book & Catalog. That means that you can get it for FREE! Feel free to email me and ask me how. (grin!)

A Messy Desk and a Blog Candy Winner Announced!!!!!

Hi gals,

I know I am late posting, so slap me silly with some noodles!  Seriously though, I procrastinated and got down to the wire with some of my items for my Christmas Gifts Class so I was focusing on those for a couple of days.

By the time I was finished, my stamp room looked like a tornado hit it!  When I sit or stand to stamp (as my mood dictates), I have a desk behind me where all my punches are and a desk in front that faces a fabulous window where I actually do all my creating. Are you a messy cook? You know, the kind of cook that would make a fabulous dish but the mess left behind in the kitchen is enough to cure you of ever cooking again? (smile). Well, I am a messy stamper! While I work it is a mess but as soon as I finish, I have to clean everything back up so I can start again! I try hard each and every time to not make a Nuclear incident but alas…

So, look at my messy desks (I am not even about to show you the floor next to me):

Tomorrow, I will post photos from the class and a project. I am still working on those photos. I had to fix the project I wanted to post today. I had a wardrobe malfunction.

Anyway, back to business! Who won my first blog candy?

The lucky winner is:

Rosetta M!!!!!!!!

Rosetta, I will be contacting you for details on how to get it to you, so look out for my email!

Thanks to everyone who left a comment. I really appreciate the feed back and Michelle is thrilled on all the compliments you left about her design. If you ever need a blog designed, feel free to contact Michelle Laycock. I have a link to her site at the bottom of my blog.

Toodles! Please check back later to see the fabulous gifts we did at my Christmas Gifts class last night. I might even got to post it late tonight.
